Community Help Sought

Expertise sought from community for irrigation system on campus. We're looking for assistance from the community in order to improve and add to our irrigation systems on campus. Anyone with expertise, or involved in that kind of business, who can assist us out with laying out a plan for irrigation, estimated expenses, etc., please contact Mr. Sosa, the Principal at Kaiser, at (808) 394-1200.

Dire need for OLD NON-DIGITAL SLR cameras (manual cameras which allow for adjustment of shutter speeds and apertures). These types of cameras are used by students in order to complete their projects. As it stands, half of the students do not have a camera and can't afford to buy one, which causes lessons to go slowly as students share cameras. If you have an old, unused camera in your closet and are willing to donate or sell it, please contact the photo teacher, Andy Lee at (808) 233-9113.

Mandarin teachers being sought. We're posting a call for parents and community members interested in teaching Mandarin in elementary and secondary schools.

The Center for Chinese Studies at UH Manoa receives many requests from public schools for part-time, after school, and regular school Mandarin teachers. In striving to provide quality control, we are offering training workshops to create a pool of teachers to recommend to schools. Participants must have a work permit, be proficient bilingually, and have a B.A. degree.

For more information please email Hazel Hasegawa at hasegawah003@gmail.com or call (808) 947-6361.
